HOT TODDY

It’s that time of year where bowls and ladles and little cups are a totally appropriate response to a group of people at your door.  Hot Toddies are the perfect cold weather drink to sip on by the fire place: sweet, spicy in a spice drawer kind of way, a touch of lemon, and of course…some kind of booze.  I prefer bourbon, but brandy or even rum are great options too. Bottoms up!

INGREDIENTS

For 4

1/2 cup bourbon

2 lemon slices

2 cups water

1 cinnamon stick

2 cloves

1 allspice peppercorn

1/4 cup honey

DIRECTIONS

In a small pot over medium heat, combine the bourbon, lemon slices, water, and spices.  Cover, bring to a boil, then turn off the pot, letting it steep for about 15 minutes.  Meanwhile, coat 4 glasses with a tablespoon of honey each, then strain the hot liquid into each glass. Enjoy!
