I’ve picked up quite a few phrases from my best girlfriend Christie, but “mish mish” has to be my favorite. First off, it is just so fun to say. Secondly, it’s a term of endearment for cats, similar in the way we would say “here kitty, kitty.” And thirdly, it means apricot. Is there anything more darling than calling neighborhood cats, “little apricots”? Exactly.
So inspired by this phrase, I decided to mix up a little mish mish of my own: an apricot inspired cocktail with a little bit of bite. The smokey mezcal and tart grapefruit bitters are lovely counter points to the apricot liqueur’s sweet roundness. So Christie, my mish mish, here a mish mish for you. Cheers!
For 1 cocktail
1 ounce apricot liqueur
2 ounces mezcal
3 dashes grapefruit bitters
1 orange twist
Pour everything over ice and stir briskly for 15 seconds. Pour into a tumbler, twist the orange peel over the glass, rub along the rim, and toss into the drink. Enjoy!
