SPRINGTIME MAKE UP

Goodbye winter! After a thorough scrubbing, I am so ready for fun colors and dewy skin! This look is minimal fuss but big on impact. I love the idea of barely there make up and a punch of color with a strong brow. It looks super fresh without being fussy, and is my go-to look for Spring.

First, start with a moisturized and prepped face, always. I love the Caudelie moisturizer, because it makes your skin instantly glowy and protects against outdoor pollutants. But whatever moisturizer is your jam, start with that. And remember to go down to your neck!

For all of my face make up, I use a Beauty Blender, but a brush can work as well. You want to create a seamless, effortless look, so as RuPaul would say, “Beat that face!”

I don’t do foundation, because I hate the mask-like effect it can create on my skin. But, if you want to even out your skin tone and get a bit more coverage, I recommend using a tinted BB cream, or mixing some of your foundation with your moisturizer.

Ok, we’re prepped! So here we go…

Face

I start with a triangle of coverage going under my eyes and down the sides of my nose using the classic, YSL Touche Eclat. It works as a highlighter as well as concealer, so it bounces light off the face, adding a luminizing effect. Remember, blend blend blend! If you need more coverage, add an extra layer of the Touche Eclat after blending, and then blend again.

With a large brush, load up on a bronzer. My favorite it Laguna from NARS. It’s pretty subtle and doesn’t have glitter it in. Remember, glitter is not the same as glow! Sweep the bronzer in the shape of a 3 on the side of your face, starting at your temple, going along your cheek bones, and then under your chin. Blend again.

To finish the face, take a highlighter – Glossier Highlighter is so good and easy to use – and draw the highlighter on top of your cheek bones, along the bridge of your nose, on the tip of your chin, in your cupid’s bow (above your lips), and on the brow bone just above your brow. I love that this one has a nice sheen, but also a clear dewy center for an extra glowy look. Blend again!

Eyes

It’s spring, so I am going SUPER simple, like, eighth grade simple, and am using my lifetime staple, Kitten by Stila. Pick any shimmery eyeshadow in a color just a hair lighter than your skin tone, and blend it across your entire eyelid. Paired with a power brow and some mascara, it’s a fresh look.

For brows, I live by my Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. It’s super potent, so only put a small amount on an angled brush and brush into your natural brows. I always blend with a q-tip afterwards.

Lips

I finish with NARS lipstick in Juliette. It’s the perfect springtime coral – not too punchy, just juicy.

Hair

Beachy, effortless waves are easily achieved with Ouai Wave Spray. I just put a little in my dry hair, tip my head over and scrunch, and I get instant texture.

Hands

To echo the coral on my lips, I’m going with Deborah Lippman’s nail polish in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Ah this post makes me want to refine my routine for spring!

I’ve been thinking about the Glossier highlighter. How does it play with powders?
