BREEZY SUMMER SHAKE

BREEZY SUMMER SHAKE // THE KITCHY KITCHEN

Summer is in full effect, and if you’re like me, you’ve probably gone a little crazy at the farmers’ market, trying to soak up every last drop of edible sunshine. This means that I have a lot of fruit doing a lot of nothing on my counter, and a girl can only make so much jam or pie. So smoothies and milkshakes are a fabulous answer to the “what should I do with all of this?” question.  Especially if the fruit is just a little past its prime for enjoying raw.

INGREDIENTS

For 2 12-ounce smoothies

1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt (or greek yogurt for a lighter spin)

1/4 cup blackberries

1/4 cup nectarines, sliced

1 tablespoon honey

1/2 teaspoon orange zest

2 cups coconut almond milk (half frozen in an ice cube tray for an extra cold smoothie)

DIRECTIONS

Pop the ingredients in a blender, and go from mix to liquify in steps.  Let it blend on liquify (or the highest setting) for 30 seconds.  The trick to this smoothie is REALLY blending it.  Taste and add more almond milk if you like a thinner consistency.
