I stumbled across this recipe for a batida (meaning a Brazilian cocktail made of fruit juice, cachaca, and a sweetener) in one of my favorite vintage cookbooks, The Gold Cookbook by Louis P. DeGouy, 1947. I love that it’s made with three ingredients, and I love that it tastes like adult lemonade. I think you’ll find The Bee Sting to be perfectly simple and so refreshing. Bottoms up!
1 1/2 ounces cachaca (or regular white rum)
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce honey
Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Pop on the lid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon.
