Watermelon always reminds me of my friend Christie, who went through a major pink and green phase in the beginning of college.  Not in a manic panic way, but in an adorable sweater and blouse, or socks and oxfords way. Currently, she’s channelling Janelle Monae + Solange, so you can imagine what a sartorial bad ass she is.  So this margarita is dedicated to her, my sweet pink and green friend.

And do I even need to talk about why this drink tastes good? Watermelon + lime + spice + booze = YES ALWAYS. This is such a delicious and simple summer cocktail. Enjoy!

For 1 Margarita

3 ounces jalapeño infused tequila (or regular repesado tequila)

3 tablespoons lime juice

1 teaspoon agave nectar

1/2 cup chopped watermelon

1 handful ice


To infuse your own tequila, simply combine 1 sliced jalapeno, seeds and all, with 3 cups repesado tequila.  The longer it sits, the spicier it will get, so I always have extra plain tequila on hand in case I need to knock back the heat a little bit when mixing.  Let it infuse for at least 24 hours.

To make the margarita, combine all of the ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth.  If you prefer it over the rocks, blend together all of the ingredients other than the ice, strain, and pour over ice. Enjoy!
