Matcha is one of my favorite flavors. Sweet and bitter, green and floral, dusty and creamy – it’s all the things. Topped with foamed milk it’s heavenly, blended with white chocolate and whipped cream it’s the perfect sipping dessert. This drink is definitely a slow sipper, but then again, that’s how matcha is best enjoyed.
For 2 large mugs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon heavy cream, plus more for garnish
1/4 cup white chocolate, roughly chopped
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons matcha powder
Combine the milk and cream in a saucepan, and whisk over high heat until hot and frothy. Remove from heat and stir in the white chocolate, vanilla and sugar. Whisk together matcha and a few tablespoons of the white chocolate mixture in a mug until smooth. Divide among mugs. Top with the frothy hot milk and stir to blend in the matcha. Top with whipped cream.
