Cold and flu season can feel like a physical game of whack-a-mole, dodging germy handshakes and errant sneezes. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, we get whacked with a whopper of a cold. Or at least that was me for the first three weeks of the new year. I just couldn’t shake it. So I turned to some of my favorite ingredients that can help a sore, inflamed throat: turmeric and honey.  Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and honey can work as a cough suppressant. 

I partnered with Almond Breeze to share some of my favorite recipes with you, and this one is just perfect when mixed with their Almondmilk Cashewmilk Blend. Cashews are a super popular ingredient in vegan and dairy free cooking because they add richness and creaminess to anything they’re in. I especially love this milk as the base for the smoothie because of the intense spice flavors going into it. The cashews in the milk add a mild creaminess that really balances everything out. INGREDIENTS

1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

1 tablespoon honey

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 frozen banana, chopped

1 1/2 cups Almond Breeze Almondmilk Cashewmilk Vanilla Unsweetened

DIRECTIONS

Put everything in a blender and mix until smooth. Enjoy!
