When I was a kid, the thrill of a day at the beach met no equal when I would come across a cache of sea glass. I thought they were mermaid pebbles, with their velvety soft exteriors and barely translucent quality. But no, they were shards of bottles and glass, worn down with age until they become like every other edgeless stone in the sea. But still, they were much prettier than the sand crabs I would let crawl over my feet, so I preferred to think of them as mermaid’s pebbles.
I couldn’t help but be reminded of sea glass when I saw these recycled glasses. The colors are so muted and beautiful. What a lovely example of “what is old is new again.”
