MY BRIDAL SHOWER // “FANCY LADY TEA PARTY”

DSC_5237

When my mom asked me about what my dream Bridal Shower would be, I immediately remembered all of the afternoon teas my mom used to take me to as a little girl. My mom is Australian, so Aussie tea time was an “A’s on the report card” tradition, and I couldn’t imagine a bridal shower without the delicate little sandwiches and delicious treats.

The plates, tea cups, and glassware were all from my personal stash, and from my great grandmother’s collection, all the way from Australia. I love a mix and match aesthetic, so putting all of the pink hued, gilded elements together worked perfectly for me.

We served delicious rose and sauvignon blanc from my friends at Club W, and I sourced the tea from Chado, a local LA tea shop.  As party favors I packaged a little tin of tea for everyone (earl grey with blue flowers, chamomile mint hibiscus, and rose sencha) along with a custom tea towel by Nest Home, one of my favorite Etsy stores.

I wore a vintage cocktail dress that I also wore in our engagement photos. I just love the giant bow on the back!

The food was fantastic, and my mom and dear friend Laurel made sure I didn’t have to cook a thing for once.  My mom worked with Sandy Miller, our longtime family friend and a fabulous caterer, to create the gorgeous little tea sandwiches. My favorite was the tomato jam, fresh tomato, and basil sandwiches, and the chicken curry salad on endive.

My friend Laurel, who’s an amazing grain free baker, created the scones, jams, and chocolate mint bars.

The whole event was intimate and fun, and such a lovely way to spend a sunday afternoon.
