Before I say anything, I’ll let Robert Herrick take it away:

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,

Old Time is still-a-flying:

And this same flower that smiles today

Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,

a higher he’s a getting,

The sooner will his race be run,

And nearer he’s to setting.

That age is best which is first,

When youth and blood are warmer;

But being spent, the worse, the worst

Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,

And while ye may, go marry:

For having lost but once your prime,

You may forever tarry.

Before YOLO there was Carpe Diem.  And when springtime gives way to those early weeks of summer, it truly feels like there’s nothing you can’t seize.  The flowers open toward you, the warm breeze hugs you, even your skin turns golden from being outside.  It’s pretty wonderful.  And while Herrick’s poem touches on time in general, I thought it captures that fleeting aspect of summer, that urgency to go out and do.

Floral headdresses have made a move from childhood daisy chains to chic fashion statement.  Whether you pin a few blooms loosely in your hair, rock a floral pillbox, or channel your inner lady of the valley with a crown of flowers, a floral headdress is the ultimate summer accessory for rosebud gathering maiden.
