WHITNEY’S MONTHLY WINE PICK: ALWAYS UNDER $15, AND ALWAYS DELICIOUS
Choosing a wine can be an intimidating task for the uninitiated, but any seasoned wine drinker knows that good wine doesn’t always mean expensive wine. That’s where Whitney comes in. She’s here to help you pick a delicious bottle at an even more delicious price.
If you don’t already know her, I’d like to introduce all of you to my dear friend, Whitney Adams. A fabulous sommelier living in Los Angeles, she just launched her wine accessories brand and online shop, Bottle Stock, and blogs about wine and other drinking adventures at Whitney A. We make silly videos together and she’s basically the best.
WHITNEY’S APRIL PICK:
2013 Bohigas Xarel-lo
Catalunya, Spain
$10, Domaine LA
This white wine is essentially a Cava without the bubbles. The Bohigas family has been making wine in Catalunya aka Cava country since the 13th century. All of the fruit for their wines is estate grown and organically farmed. Xarel-lo, the star of this wine show, is the principal grape in Cava blends and proves that it is fantastic on its own and without the fizz. This stainless steel aged wine is bright, clean with green apple and lemon-y acidity. Perfect for a sunny spring day or with Claire’s Citrus Fennel Tahini Salad.
