Whitney’s Monthly Wine Pick: Always Under $15, and Always Delicious

Choosing a wine can be an intimidating task for the uninitiated, but any seasoned wine drinker knows that good wine doesn’t always mean expensive wine. That’s where Whitney comes in.  She’s here to help you pick a delicious bottle at an even more delicious price.

If you don’t already know her, I’d like to introduce all of you to my dear friend, Whitney Adams.  A fabulous sommelier living in Los Angeles, she just launched her wine accessories brand and online shop, Bottle Stock, and blogs about wine and other drinking adventures at Brunellos Have More Fun.  We make silly videos together and she’s basically the best.

Whitney’s December Pick:

NV Törley “Fortuna”

Eytak, Hungary

$13, Domaine LA

While this bottle looks like it could fit right in on an episode of Shahs of Sunset, pay no mind and pop the cork. And while you might not be able to pronounce anything on the label, drink it anyway. This Hungarian sparkler, made from various muscat clones and indigenous white grapes to Hungary, is just plain delicious. It has a hint of residual sugar and soft bubbles, but mouth-watering acidity. It’s perfect with sweet and savory Christmas ham, cookies or cake by the fire, or festively ringing in the New Year. I’ve shared this wine with Claire before and she deemed it  “ambrosial”. A perfect description, if I do so say myself.
