WHITNEY’S MONTHLY WINE PICK: ALWAYS UNDER $15, AND ALWAYS DELICIOUS
Choosing a wine can be an intimidating task for the uninitiated, but any seasoned wine drinker knows that good wine doesn’t always mean expensive wine. That’s where Whitney comes in. She’s here to help you pick a delicious bottle at an even more delicious price.
If you don’t already know her, I’d like to introduce all of you to my dear friend, Whitney Adams. A fabulous sommelier living in Los Angeles, she just launched her wine accessories brand and online shop, Bottle Stock, and blogs about wine and other drinking adventures at Whitney A. We make silly videos together and she’s basically the best.
WHITNEY’S OCTOBER PICK:
2013 Tilted Shed “Graviva!” Cider
Sonoma County, California
$15.99, Domaine LA
This is my favorite time of year – the leaves start to turn, the air feels crisper and the harvest season is in full effect. What better way to celebrate than a refreshing glass of apple cider! In the last few years, cider has definitely made a comeback as a viable option for your dinner/brunch/picnic table. There are so many artisanal, heirloom, small-production ciders on the scene crafted with the same care and attention as wine. So, give the vino a break and try this amazing cider from Tilted Shed Ciderworks in Sonoma. It’s made from Gravenstein apples and has a perfect balance of tart, sweet and earthy. Apple cider goes brilliantly with a hearty grilled cheese and Claire’s version with thinly sliced apples and mustard is the bee’s knees.
