WHITNEY’S MONTHLY WINE PICK: ALWAYS UNDER $15, AND ALWAYS DELICIOUS
Choosing a wine can be an intimidating task for the uninitiated, but any seasoned wine drinker knows that good wine doesn’t always mean expensive wine. That’s where Whitney comes in. She’s here to help you pick a delicious bottle at an even more delicious price.
If you don’t already know her, I’d like to introduce all of you to my dear friend, Whitney Adams. A fabulous sommelier living in Los Angeles, she just launched her wine accessories brand and online shop, Bottle Stock, and blogs about wine and other drinking adventures at Whitney A. We make silly videos together and she’s basically the best.
WHITNEY’S AUGUST PICK:
2014 Un Saumon dans la Loire ‘La Boutanche’ Rose
$14.99, Domaine LA
I love the La Boutanche wines that importer Selection Massale brings to the states. They collaborate with a few of their winemakers to make super affordable and drinkable single-varietal wines and, beyond being consistently delicious, they always come in a liter bottle. Yay! This Gamay rose is the perfect late summer pink drink. It has a little more robust fruit and a savory quality that lends itself to the autumn months around the corner, but is still quite refreshing. It can handle heartier flavors and sings with fresh herbs, so this would pair swimmingly with Claire’s Grilled Eggplant and Leek Salad.
