Whitney’s Monthly Wine Pick: Always Under $15, and Always Delicious

Choosing a wine can be an intimidating task for the uninitiated, but any seasoned wine drinker knows that good wine doesn’t always mean expensive wine. That’s where Whitney comes in.  She’s here to help you pick a delicious bottle at an even more delicious price.

If you don’t already know her, I’d like to introduce all of you to my dear friend, Whitney Adams.  A fabulous sommelier living in Los Angeles, she just launched her wine accessories brand and online shop, Bottle Stock, and blogs about wine and other drinking adventures at Brunellos Have More Fun.  We make silly videos together and she’s basically the best.

Whitney’s September Pick:

2012 Folk Machine Tocai Friulano

Mendocino, California

Here’s your chance to put a little Northeastern Italy (by way of Northern California) in your wine glass. Tocai Friulano, or just Friulano, is a white grape that grows in the region of Friuli. Fun for us, more and more Cali winemakers are experimenting with various Italian grapes and to great success. This wine is a perfect combination of Italian and California styles. It has the classic brightness, ease, and clean flavor of Friulano in its natural state and the ripeness and roundness of texture from the warm California weather. A perfect marriage, and a great white to usher in the Fall. This popular wine is going fast! So hunt it down before it sells out (typically $12-16).
